CAFÉ AND HOSPITALITY SKILLS

Our café provides our service users with the exciting opportunity to learn about the planning, preparation and serving of healthy and wholesome meals in a supported training environment.

These meals can be purchased by the service users, staff and visitors from the local community.

Our service users can gain valuable experience which can also help them in their personal lives:

  • Working as part of a team to plan the menu
  • Sourcing the ingredients needed
  • Consider good food hygiene and preparation skills
  • Monetary awareness
  • Promotion of social skills
  • Self confidence and satisfaction as a meal goes from the ingredients, through too cooking and being served at the table.

The café works in partnership with the market garden activity by allowing fresh, seasonal, home grown vegetables to be incorporated into the menu plan. This also compliments the Independent Living Skills Programme in the promotion of eating a balanced and healthy diet.
